1 Timothy 6:13-16 "Personal Holiness: Never Give Up, Never Give In!"

What does it look like to hold fast to our faith when the pressure to let go becomes almost unbearable? In 1 Timothy 6:13-16, the Apostle Paul issues a charge that cuts straight to the heart of what it means to follow Christ to the very end. The passage calls us to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach, and it grounds that call in two powerful realities: the example of Jesus Himself, and the matchless sovereignty of the God who stands with us. Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate and refused to compromise His confession, the full body of truth He had proclaimed about God's nature, man's condition, and His own identity and mission. He went all the way. Paul's point is simple and sobering: so must we. The doctrine of perseverance is not a passive waiting game. It is an active, daily commitment to press on, fueled by the recognition that God has granted us the spirit to do so. The question the passage ultimately puts to us is not whether we believe in perseverance in theory, but whether we are prepared to live it out in practice, through inconvenience, through opposition, and if it comes to it, through suffering.
