1 Timothy 6:11-12 "Personal Holiness: Neutral Men are the Devil's Allies"

What does it mean to truly take a side? In a world that rewards fence-sitting and punishes conviction, this message from 1 Timothy 6:11-12 cuts straight to the heart of what it means to live as a person of God. The Apostle Paul fires off four rapid imperatives at his young disciple Timothy: flee, pursue, fight, take hold. These are not suggestions for the spiritually curious. They are battle orders for those who have already enlisted. We are challenged to sprint away from the values and patterns of the kingdom of man and sprint toward the qualities that define the kingdom of God: righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness. What makes this message so striking is the urgency behind each command. The word flee carries the image of a man running for his life, fingers in his ears, eyes fixed forward. The word pursue describes moving rapidly and decisively toward something you crave. The question this raises for each of us is deeply personal: what are we actually running toward, and what are we running from? This is not a message about earning God's favor. It is a message about living fully inside the life God has already given us. If we have been called, if we have confessed, if we have been granted eternal life, then neutrality is not an option. It is a betrayal.
