Step 6: Outreach – Sharing the Gospel with the World

Outreach is the natural overflow of a heart transformed by the Gospel. Jesus commands His followers to be witnesses of His grace and truth, proclaiming the good news of salvation to all nations (Acts 1:8). Outreach is not merely an activity of the church but a reflection of God’s missionary heart, as He desires all people to come to repentance and faith in Christ (2 Peter 3:9).

The Reformed perspective emphasizes the sovereignty of God in evangelism. While God alone regenerates hearts and brings people to salvation, He has chosen to use His people as instruments in this process. As Paul writes, “How are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:14). Outreach is a privilege and responsibility, motivated by love for God and compassion for the lost.

Outreach begins with personal evangelism, as we share the Gospel in our daily lives. Whether with family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers, every believer is called to be an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). This involves speaking the truth of the Gospel with clarity and conviction, as well as living in a way that reflects the character of Christ (Matthew 5:16).

The local church also plays a critical role in outreach. Through community events, service projects, and missions, the church demonstrates the love of Christ to the world. These efforts provide opportunities to meet practical needs while pointing people to their ultimate need for salvation. Outreach is not about growing the church for its own sake but about glorifying God by making His name known among the nations.

At FBC Springville, outreach is central to our mission of “knowing, growing, and going.” We encourage every member to participate in this work, using their unique gifts and opportunities to share the Gospel. From local ministries to global missions, there are countless ways to get involved in reaching others for Christ.

As we engage in outreach, we trust in God’s sovereignty and power to draw people to Himself. He has promised that His Word will not return void but will accomplish His purposes (Isaiah 55:11). Let us go forth with confidence, proclaiming the Gospel with boldness and humility, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
